DIG Usman Alkali Baba is the new acting Inspector-General of Police (IGP) who is expected to take over with immediate effect.
Minister of Police Affairs, Muhammadu Dingyadi who announced the appointment on Tuesday while addressing State House Correspondents at the Presidential Villa in Abuja,explained that the appointment was part of strategies by the Buhari's administration to rejig the security architecture of the country to respond to the security challenges.
Buhari according to the minister, also charged the new acting Police boss to rise to the challenge of his new office
He asked Baba to ensure policing reform policy of his administration are fully prioritised and implemented to enable the police perform most effectively for peace and security.
