Ogun Empowers Another Batch Of 110 Women,Youths On Skill Acquisition

No fewer than 110 women and youths in Ogun State are to undergo various skill acquisition training  including hairdressing, tailoring, catering and decoration among others, to empower them to generate employment opportunities and create more wealth in the state.

This brings to 260 the number of women and youths that have been exposed to such trainings being handled by the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development since the advent of the Prince Dapo Abiodun led-administration in the State.

The State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Mrs. Funmilayo Efuwape revealed this while addressing the 110 beneficiaries at a matriculation ceremony held at the Women Development Center, Oke-Ilewo in  Abeokuta, the state capital

She said the training programme would expose the trainees to  current trend in vocational engagements, make them employers of labour and ultimately, make living more meaningful for them.

Efuwape, who was represented by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Women Affairs and Social Development, Hon. Adijat Oladapo added that at the end, trainees would be self-reliant and be able to make meaningful contributions to development of their respective families and the society at large.

“Let me assure that the Prince Dapo Abiodun led administration remained committed to the development of all and sundry in the State, and will spare no cost to build the capacity of the teeming youths and women who for different reasons are not engaged in any meaningful business”, Efuwape said

Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Mrs. Melutia Ogunremi had earlier said the primary focus and vision of the agency was to boost the skill of unemployed youths and women, urging the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the opportunity being given them.

Responding on behalf of other beneficiaries, Miss Doyin Adeyemi, applauded the State government for its unrelenting efforts on women and youth empowerment, promising to use the knowledge to be gained maximally.
