Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State has given his approval to the Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Abeokuta.
to award Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) Degree Certificate
The approval is in response of the Dapo Abiodun's administration mission, towards improving the educational provision in the state to meet the demand for technological and vocational manpower needed for development,
The State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu conveyed the approval in a letter signed by the State Director, Primary and Higher Education, Dr. Olanloye Waheed, dated March 23, 2021.
Head, Public Relations and Protocol of the Institution, Yemi Ajibola who made this known to Edu-Biznews in a statement in Abeokuta on Wednesday, said the governor in the letter addressed to the Acting Rector, Dr. Adeoye Odedeji stated that, “His Excellency, Prince (Dr) Dapo Abiodun MFR has graciously granted approval to commence the process of affiliation with Olabisi Onabanjo University for the purpose of running B.Tech programmes”.
The letter further explained that the approval would be intandem with the requirements approved by the National Universities Commission (NUC).
The B.Tech approval to MAPOLY is also a confirmation of His Excellency’s keen interest in education to align it with the demands of modern trends which places premium on technological and vocational skill acquisition.
It would be recalled that Governor Abiodun, on assumption of office, revived MAPOLY with the pronouncement to return the Institution to status quo ante after the controversy that greeted the upgrading of the Institution to the University of Science and Technology by the immediate past Ibikunle Amosun's administration
The Acting Rector responding to the approval,maintained that the programme would retain and sustain the hand-on policy of Technical and Vocational Education Training (TVET) policy.
The Acting Rector explained that the B.Tech would be, mainly, for National Diploma graduates of programmes accredited by National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) in the Polytechnic.
“The reason is that we want to give maximum benefits to all our products and their counterparts from other institution within the context of the programmes accredited in the Polytechnic”, he added.
Dr. Odedeji said, “as soon as all arrangements have been concluded with OOU and NUC, there is assurance that the programme will begin before the end of this year.”
On behalf of the Management, Staff and Students of the Polytechnic, Dr. Odedeji expresses heartfelt appreciation to His Excellency, Prince Dapo Abiodun, for this giant offer to MAPOLY.
He promised that the Institution would continue to key into the mission of “Building our Future Together” agenda of the Ogun State Government.
