Ogun Govt Lauds Nestle Plc School Projects,Tasks Others



Ogun State Government has lauded Nestle Nigeria Plc for its Community water and sanitation projects in schools in the state, tasking other corporate organizations to emulate such Corporate Social Responsibility 

The State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu who made the call, urged corporate organisations and individuals to support  the education sector, by  providing more facilities for improved academic performance.

Arigbabu was speaking during the recent commissioning  of the Nestle Community Water projects for Healthier Kids (N4HK), donated to Oke-Ona United School, Abeokuta and Saint Paul's Anglican School, Obafemi Owode.

The Commissioner who noted that no government could single-handedly underwrite the cost of sound and effective education to her citizenry, applauded Nestle Nigeria PLC for its contribution to development of the sector, through its Social Corporate Responsibility.

His words,"No government can do it alone when it comes to providing quality education. It is in view of this, that government is filled with gratitude to Nestle Nigeria PLC, for the donation of water and sanitation projects to our schools, under the N4HK programme. Your responsiveness to the Corporate Social Responsibility is laudable and worthy of emulation".

Also speaking,the Chairman, Ogun State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Dr. Femi Majekodunmi said the initiative would complement the on-going effort of the government to improve the standard of education in the State.

 Majekodunmi who was represented by the Permanent member iii, SUBEB, Hon. Olufemi Ilori-Oduntan, appreciated the organisation for a show of good neighbourliness, urging the two schools to judiciously utilise and maintain the facilities.

 The Corporate Communication and Public Affairs Manager of the company, Mrs. Victoria Uwadoka welcoming guests at the event, had stressed the need for clean water and toilet as part of measures to curtail the ravaging COVID-19 pandemic.

He explained that the organisation’s resolve to provide the facilities to safeguard pupils against contracting the virus.

In their goodwill messages, the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Tomi Coker, represented by the Executive Secretary, Primary Healthcare Development Board, Dr. Elijah Ogunsola and the Paramount Ruler of Oke-ona, Oba Adedapo Tejuoso, represented by the Akinrogun of Oke-ona, Alhaji Taofeek Lawal, said water is essential to maintain hygiene, hence, the need for the project, particularly in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic.
