Ogun State Government has lauded the outstanding performance of pupils who represented the state at the recently concluded Mathematics Competition in Nigeria
The State Government expressed its readiness to give the needed logistics support to such pupils, to encourage them participate fully in competitions, in order to win more laurels to sustain the State’s enviable position in education.
The highly elated Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu gave this assurance while hosting in his Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta Office, members of the Ogun State chapter of Mathematics Association of Nigeria (MAN), who presented award winners of the Mathematics competitions to him.
Arigbabu who expressed joy on the outstanding performance of the pupils from public and private primary, as well as secondary schools, described them as worthy ambassadors of the State.
The Commissioner also appreciated the teachers for their unrelenting efforts in raising the proud future leaders of the nation, urging them to work harder, so as to produce more outstanding students.
"I’m happy about how you have represented Ogun State well, very proud of all of you, you are good ambassadors that have exhibited excellence and I am expecting more laurels from subsequent competitions. For us as a government, we will ensure that the standard of education is raised at all levels", he said.
In his remarks, the MAN Chairman, Mr. Joseph Bankole pledged that the Association would explore available opportunities to adequately prepare students for national and international competitions.
Speaking on behalf of other awardees, Master Muaz Arogundade from Ijebu-Ode Grammar School, and Precious Balogun from Welking International School, Ota, lauded government for its unflinching support in providing good and conducive environment for learning, advising other students to be studious.
