NPFL:Kwara United Compound Sunshine Stars Woes, Move Closer To Enyimba



Kwara United of Ilorin continued with its  upward surge in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL), compounding the woes of Sunshine Stars of Akure with a hard earned two/one win on the road on Sunday.

The Afonja  Warriors came from behind to defeat the home side with goals from Gata and Steven in the 54th and 86th minutes, after Yusuf's strike had put the Akure Gunners ahead in the 50th minute.

The Gbenga Ogunbote tutored side failed to redeem their image at home, after suffering the 4-1 humiliating defeat in the hands of the relegation threatened Abia Warriors in the week eight match played in Aba.

With the result, the Kwara boys moved up by one spot, to the second position, closing the gab on the table with 18points behind the leaders, Enyimba International of Aba who have  21points while Sunshine Stars are still lanquashing at the middle of the table with 13points after the back to back defeat.

 Enugu Rangers through Nnaji 's lone strike in the 17th minute, gave the homeside the maximum three points against the visiting Warri Wolves, to move to the third position with 17points .

Fitht placed Akwa United thrashed their visitors,Katsina United, three/nil with a brace from Effiong in the 29th and 79th minutes and Charles in the 60th minute in a week nine match played in Uyo while another Uyo based side, Dakkada worsened Abia Warriors position with a two/one home-win .

Coach Fidelis Ilechukwu led struggling Heartland of Owerri to secure a vital two/one victory on the road against his former club, MFM of Lagos while Jigawa Golden Stars also managed a lone goal slim win against the visiting bottom placed Adamawa United.

Both Lobi Stars and Wikki Tourists of Bauchi ended their encounter played in Makurdi, in a goaless draw while the remaining two matches between Rivers United of Port-harcourt and Nasarawa United of Lafia as well as FC Ifeanyi Ubah of Nnewi and Kano Pillars will be played this afternoon.
