Abiodun Seeks Ogun Assembly Approval For OGSIEC Nominees



Governor Dapo Abiodun is seeking the approval of the Ogun State House of Assembly for his nominees into the much awaited board of the State Independent Electoral Commission (OGSIEC), ahead of the local councils'poll in the state.

The nominees include , Babatunde Adetona Osibodu as Chairman, Olatunji Akoni, Tajudeen Omolaja, Ayodele Bankole and Mrs Gbemi Onasanya as members 

Speaker of the house, Right Honourable Olakunle Oluomo who read the Governor's letter during plenay on Tuesday in Abeokuta, asked the nominees to appear before the lawmakers for screening on Thursday with 30copies each of their curriculum vitae.

There have been several calls from the political parties for the reconstitution of board of the state electoral agency to mid-wife the conduct of the local governments' elections, to elect Chairmen and councillors to run the affairs of the councils currently being managed by caretaker members since 2020

Meanwhile three members of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Jemili Akingbade,(Imeko-Afon) Wahab Haruna(Yewa North 2) and Adeyanju Adegoke(Yewa North 1) defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) .

With the defection, APC has 25 out of the 26-member house, leaving only Hon.Syvester  Abiodun(Ijebu North-One) in the opposition, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) 

In January, seven members of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) also defected to the APC .
