WAFU-B U-17: Nigeria Through As Ghana Crash-Out

Golden Eaglets of Nigeria eventually scaled through to the semi-finals of the ongoing West Africa Football Union (WAFU-B) Under 17 Competition in Lome,Togo, after Coted-'Ivoire sent out Ghana with a three/one win on Tuesday.

The Young Elephants took the lead in just nine minutes of the crucial encounter against the Black Starlets of Ghana, before Charles Likpa Miezan increased the tally in the 47th minute.

John Batigi reduced the goals margin for Ghana in the 51st minute but Cedric Franck Emmanuel Don regained the margin with the third goal from the penalty spot to send the Black Starlets , the former World champions out of the competition.

With the result, Nigeria's Golden Eaglets, five times World Champions qualified via superior goals difference of minus one against Ghana's minus two, since both countries have a point each from two matches.

The Nigerian Cadets side will clash with Burkina-Faso in a semi-final match slated for Friday while Coted-'Ivoire take on Niger Republic in the other semi-final encounter, same day.

The top three teams at the competition will qualify for the Africa U-17 Cup of Nations in Morocco later in the year.
