Again, Nigeria's Golden Eaglets failed to beat the Baby Elephants of Coted-'Ivoire, losing the final of the recently concluded West Africa Football Union (WAFU-B) Under 17 competition in Lome, Togo
The Eaglets could not defend their WAFU B tournament after going down to a 3-2 defeat in the hands of Cote d’l voire. who confirmed its superiority over their Nigerian cadet side in the final match played on Monday night.
Edu-Biznews recalled that the Ivorians had earlier defeated Golden Eaglets by a lone-goal in the group stage of the tournament.
Sindou Kone gave the Ivorians the lead in the 21st minute before his team-mate, Abdrumane Konate doubled the lead with the second goal, a minute before the half-time.
Substitute Seydou Traore added the third six minutes from time after Charles Likpa had missed golden opportunity to extend the lead, as his well-taken shot was saved by Nigeria's Destiny Emuwahem in goal.
Late minutes brace through a well struck free-kick by Ahmed Abdullahi, on the dot of 90minutes and another deep into stoppage time, reduced the goals margin for the Eaglets , bringing the final result to a respectable 3-2 score-line .
Both countries had already qualified for the AFCON Under-17 tournament later in the year in Morocco.
