It will be a tough time for the Ogun State Government owned Gateway United Football Club of Abeokuta, as the Nigeria National League (NNL) 2020/2021 season kicks-off on January 30 .
The Gateway boys will be battling for the sole promotional ticket to the elite, Nigeria Professional Football League(NPFL) in group B2(Southern Conference) of the Nigeria's second tier league alongside local rivals, Remo Stars of Ikenne-Remo and old war horse , Insurance of Benin , Bayelsa United of Yenegoa , Crown FC of Ogbomoso as well as Abia Comets and J.Atete FC.
Other clubs in the group, are , Apex Krane FC,Ibom Youth FC, Joy Cometh FC, FC One Rocket , Godosky FC, and Jossy FC.
Gateway United FC will kickstart its 2020/2021 Nigeria National League campaign on the road against Joy Cometh FC at the Agege Township Stadium, Lagos on Saturday January 30, 2021.
The match day one fixtures and the groupings were released by the media team of the Nigeria National League after the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Second tier league on Friday, in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State where the draws were made in the presence of representatives of all 46 teams.
Other matches in the opening fixtures of Group B2, include Crown FC taking on Jossy FC in Ogbomoso, J Atete host Abia Comets in Warri, Bayelsa United visiting Apex Krane, Remo Stars entertaining Godosky FC just as Ibom Youth FC sizing up FC One Rocket in Akwa Ibom.
One team in each of the four groups will qualify for the elite division NPFL.
