Edu-Biznews recalled that the council had  during the conduct of the last qualifying examination, vowed to ensure that only teachers certified by it would be allowed to teach in the classrooms .

Ajiboye insisting on the decision, said that  TRCN would soon release the present figure of quacks  in the  teaching profession in the country..

According to him, a total of 17,602 candidates sat for the examination, while 3,650 teachers representing 24.1 per cent of the candidates failed the exercise.

His words, “A total of 17,602 candidates took the examination; 11,487, which is 75.9 per cent, passed; while 3,650 candidates, which is 24.1 per cent, failed.”

Ajiboye described the announcement of special salary package and other benefits for teachers by the President Muhammadu Buhari during the World Teachers'Day last October, as a major achievement for TRCN  in the outgoing year.

He was full of joy that the National Council on Education recently approved the package for teachers  as announced by the president.

Ajiboye said for the special package to be implemented, there must be the approval of the Federal Executive Council.

The  TRCN Registrar  added that the implementation of the teachers special salary structure, also requires the National Assembly  intervention  in terms of amending relevant laws to allow the increase in service and retirement years for teachers.

While commending the Federal Government for the  support  to the teaching profession,Ajiboye said the TRCN mobilised over 60,000 teachers for various digital skills training in 2020 in collaboration with other relevant bodies.
