Governor Hope Uzodinma has announced the sacking of Prof. Adaobi Obasi as Vice Chancellor of the Imo State University, Owerri, following her indictment for financial mismanagement by a visitation panel
The visitation panel had recommended the sacking of the Vice-Chancellor in its report, which was approved by the governor.
Chief Press Secretary, Oguwike Nwachuku to the governor , in a statement on Friday, explained that the decision to sack the VC, who is also an aunt to the immediate past governor, Senator Rochas Okorocha ,was reached during the executive council meeting chaired by Uzodinma
The State Executive Council according to the statement,approved the forensic audit of the state’s university amid monumental corrupt practices contained in the report of the visitation panel that recently investigated the university’s activities between 2012 and 2019.
Nwachuku stated that Prof.Adaobi would stop functioning as Vice-Chancellor from December 30.
