Katsina Students' Abduction; Buhari Orders Beef -Up Of Security in Schools

President Muhammadu Buhari has ordered security agencies to beef up security round all schools in the country, following the last Saturday's reported  abduction of several students of  the Government Science Secondary School, Kankara in Katsina State.

Buhari who condemned the bandits attack in the school, also directed men of the Nigerian Army and the Nigerian Police Force to go after the attackers to ensure that no student gets missing or harmed.

The president  issuing the directive  in a statement by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, called for reinforcement of security of all schools in line with his administration policy on Safety of schools in Nigeria.

He asked the school's management to carry out an audit of the students' population to determine the number of them still missing, following shootings in and around the school, during which hundreds scampered for safety, jumping over perimeter walls of the school.

He enjoined parent who rushed to pick their children to relate  with the school and police, in order to properly account for every student in the school.

Buhari vowed to continue to support the police and military in the ongoing fight against terrorism and banditry in the country

“Our prayers are with the families of the students, the school authorities and the injured,” he prayed .

The president according to the media aide , had been briefed by Governor Aminu Masari, with whom he has been in touch with.

Also the Chief of Army staff, General Tukur Buratai, in the statement was said to have ordered  the search for the missing children.

The statement added that the military operation  supported by air power had located the bandits’ enclave at Zango/Paula forest in Kankara and there have been exchange of fire in an ongoing operation.

No student casualty according to the police authorities, has been reported so far in the operation against the bandits .
