Abiodun Wins ANCOPSS Award As Most Friendly Governor In Education



Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State has bagged the Most Outstanding Education-Friendly Governor of the Year Award, by the All Nigeria Confederation of Principals of Secondary Schools (ANCOPSS), Ogun State Chapter.

The award according to the association, is in  appreciation of the  governor's outstanding contributions to education sector, especially during the time of COVID-19 pandemic when the state became the first in Nigeria to introduce digital classroom on television for pupils.

The Special Award was conferred on him during the 40th Annual Congress of ANCOPSS, tagged; "Ameliorating The Declining Academic Culture Among Secondary School: A Task For All Stakeholders, at the Sport Complex of Babcock University, Ilisan-Remo.

Abiodun represented by his Deputy, Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele, says teachers’ contribution to the development of education in the State cannot be over-emphasised.

He expressed gratitude to the organisers for the honour bestowed on him, and for creating an avenue that would engender revatalisation of ideas for further implementation of government policies and programmes.

The governor  described ANCOPSS members as vital instruments in the promotion of excellence and ensuring that its policies are well implemented, even at the time that government is committed to reform the education sector.

Also speaking, the State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu said the present administration would always expend resources on the renovation and reconstruction of facilities in schools, towards creating conducive teaching and learning environment.

 He urged the association not to rest on its oars in providing leadership qualities needed by principals in the management of schools. 

 Earlier, the State President, ANCOPSS, Dr. (Mrs.) Ayodele Womiloju had described the governor as an amiable, diligent and result-oriented man,

She expressed the association's appreciation  for the governor's feat and several giant strides in education within the short time of assuming office.

 Womiloju commended the government for resuscitating office of the Principal-General, saying the event was put in place to provide veritable platform for all Principals to come together and examine issues of  importance in the education sector.
