A Real Estate Expert, ESV. Yomi Ibisola has revealed how Nigerians can detect a Fake or Fraudster parading as an Estate Agent, to avoid being duped of their hard earned money, under the guise of getting them landed property to acquire or apartment to let for accommodation.
Ibisola who is the Principal Partner of the Yomi Ibisola Consulting, an Estate Surveyors and Valuers Firm, in an exclusive chat with Edu-Biznews in Abeokuta, explained that people should always watch out for the logo of the Estate Surveyors and Valuers Registration Board of Nigeria on the name of company such Estate Agent is representing .
According to him," most people parading as Estate Agents are quacks, not licensed by the Estate Surveyors and Valuers Registration Board of Nigeria, to practice as duly qualified Estate Agents.
The Head of Estate Management and Valuation Department of the Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY), Abeokuta explained that " the regulatory body can only issue its operational license to only those trained to practice as Estate Surveyors and Valuers "
He expressed concern that unsuspecting Nigerians had been victims of the quacks who obtained huge amount from them, under the pretext of getting descent apartment for accommodation or landed property to acquire.
To checkmate this unwholesome practice in the profession , he explained that the Nigerian Institution of Estate Surveyors and Valuers (NIESV) as an Institute,established Association of Estate Agents and organizes mandatory trainings and workshops to properly train them so as to ensure that their mode of practising estate agency conform with acceptable standard in the profession .
The Expert also asked Nigerians to always engage the services of only Chartered members of the Nigerian Institution of Estate Surveyors and Valuers (NIESV) who have the required expertise in the Real Estate business,to determine the real worth of their valuable assets.
