Nigeria's Uefa-A Licensed Coach, Brunks Warwick has expressed strong support for the recent Confederation of Africa Football (CAF) decision that only coaches with Caf -A License should be in-charge of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) clubs technical crew, ahead of the kick-off of the top-flight league season next month in the country.
The Caf decision is also affecting Nigeria's flagbearers in the continental competitions, including Fatai Osho of the Enyimba International of Aba and Abdu Maikaba of Plateau United of Jos who are with Caf-B License and can not lead their teams to the Caf Champions League and Ibrahim Musa of Kano Pillars, also with B-License whose side are compaigning in the Caf Confederation Cup, except Stanley Eguma of Rivers United in the same continental assignment who has A -License.
Chairman of Nigeria Football Coaches Association, Ladan Bosso had said only 43 Coaches in the country are with Caf -A License and mostly teaching in tertiary institutions not clubs in NPFL .
But Brunks, a one-time utility player of El-Kanemi Football Club of Maiduguri and Saint Entiente of France, in an exclusive chat with Edu-Biznews in Abeokuta, stressed that the Caf decision would help develop the round leather game in the country.
The Former Assistant Coach of the Guinea Bissau 's Under-17 team blamed the low number of Caf -A Licensed Coaches on the cabal within the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) who usually influence the choice of coaches in the clubs and national teams.
Brunks who is one-time technical crew member of the United Kingdom University team to the 2006 World Universities Game in Japan,lamented that the most of the coaches are being recycled within the system in the country which does not encourage more coaches to upgrade themselves and go for their Caf-A License coaching course.
The Former Team Leader of football section of the 2013 World Paralympic Game in Ireland stressed the need for local coaches in the country to upgrade themselves, particularly ex-International and former Super Eagles players for them to discover talented players and develop such talents to stardom .
Nigeria football according to him, "can only develop if the local coaches, particularly in various Communities upgrade themselves on the technical knowledge of the game, you can't give what you don't have".
Brunks disagreed sharply with the argument of the National Association of Nigeria Professional Footballers (NANPF) President, Tijani Babagida that the Super Eagles handler , Gernot Rohr should always include four players in the local league in the squad.
He insisted that Rohr would only select best crop of players to be in the Super Eagles which are readily available in clubs in Europe.
