O gun State House of Assembly has charged newly appointed members of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) to be thorough in its award of contract, in order to avoid shoddy school projects done by contractors under the previous administrations in the state.
Speaker of the house, Prince Olakunle Olumo gave the charge on Monday during screening of the SUBEB nominees led by its Chairman, Dr.Femi Majekodunmi at the assembly complex in Oke-mosan, Abeokuta, the state capital
The house expressed concern that most of the public schools' buildings were dilapidated before the coming of Governor Dapo Abiodun' whose administration has started rehabilitating schools across the state.
Oluomo enjoined the board members ,if confirmed to always inspect the quality of school projects being done by contractors to ensure high standard"don't always sit in office, go out and see the projects for people to appreciate hardwork of this administration to ensure provision of conducive environment for learning in public schools."
The speaker who expressed confidence in the calibre of nominees by the governor, advised the board to ensure the school projects being done by the state government spread across every constituency in the state.
He then urged the SUBEB board to ensure cordial relationship between the executive and legislative arm to improve quality of education in the state
