Ogun Boxing Association has concluded
the 16th edition of Boxing Hall Fame sponsored by the immediate past Minister of Finance, Hon.Wale Edun who has continued to demonstrate financial support for previous editions of the competition
The competition held over the weekend at the Alake Sports Complex in Ijeja, Abeokuta, the State capital was part of preparation of the State's young boxers between ages 15 and 19, ahead of the National Intermediate Games holding in Lagos between October 1 and 15, 2026
In the bouts decided, Adedokun Basit narrowly defeated his opponent, Oladele Waris in the 47 kg class by a split decision of 3-2, Adeniran Quyum dominated the 60 kg fight against Najeem Rasaq, winning by a unanimous decision of 5-0 while in the 55 kg bout, Atanda Ayomide also won by unanimous decision of 5-0 against his opponent, Olanipekun Sofiu
In the female category , Ganiyat Lawal out-punched Oyinkansola Odesanya , winning by unanimous decision of 5-0 in the 54 kg class, Roqibat Alayande defeated her opponent, Khadijat Hassan by a split decision of 4-1 in the 47 kg contest while Sukurat Taiwo beat Omotayo Salaudeen by similar split decision of 4-1 in the 50kg class
Other bouts decided, saw Adewale Idris knocking out his opponent, Najeem Roqib in the second round of the 40 kg contest while Abdul-Salam Fatiu overwhelmed Michael Omotayo by unanimous decision of 5-0 in the 60 kg contest
Acting Director of Sports Seyi Sonde, management of the State Sports Council and other stakeholders witnessed the competition
