Ogun 2027 Guber Poll :Bakinson, Other Loyalists Rally Support For APC's Solomon Adeola (Yayi) at Birthday Prayer

Aare Mayegun of Owu Kingdom and founder of the Bakinson Movement, Prince Kazeem Adeyanju Olanrewaju Bakinson, has led other loyalists in mobilizing massive support for actualization of governorship ambition of Senator Solomon Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, on the platform of All Progressives Congress in Ogun State

The group expressed confidence in the ability of the senator representing Ogun West at the Nigerian Senate, saying he possesses the qualities needed to lead Ogun State to the next level

Bakinson was speaking on Monday, during a birthday prayer organised in honour of Yayi, at the Owu club, Abeokuta, where political associates, Clerics and members of the Owu community gathered to celebrate the senator.

He explained that the event was organised because of his belief in the importance of prayer, particularly in supporting good aspirations.

“Even good things need prayer for sustainability,” Bakinson said, explaining that his Muslim background and family history had strengthened his belief in the potency of prayer.

He said he chose to support Yayi before the election rather than wait until after his emergence as governor.

“I would have been lazy and joined Yayi after he emerges as a governor. I said no, let me also be part of those that will bake the cake so that we can be well-positioned,” he said.

Bakinson, who described Yayi's generosity as “second to none,” said the senator had continued to support people beyond his constituency

According to him, the Senator's interventions in different parts of Ogun State demonstrated his capacity to provide inclusive leadership.

He cited the provision of a transformer on Bakinson Street in Abeokuta as one of Yayi's interventions outside the senatorial district he represents.

He maintained that effective planning and leadership could unlock Ogun State's economic potential, particularly by taking advantage of its proximity to Lagos.

“If Ogun State has an airport today, there is no reason why Arepo should be less in value than Magodo. It is leadership, it is planning, it is the person occupying the seat,” Bakinson said.

The Chief Imam of Owu Kingdom, Sheikh Suleiman Akorede, who led the prayer, said the gathering was primarily an opportunity to give thanks to Allah for Yayi's life and pray for more years of peace, joy, happiness and prosperity.

Sheikh Akorede also used the occasion to appeal to Nigerian leaders to address the economic hardship and poverty affecting citizens.

According to him, Nigeria has abundant resources and human capacity but suffers from poor management of its resources.

“We pray to Almighty Allah to touch the heart of our leaders, so as to do the needful to the masses,” he said.

On whether prayer alone would be enough to secure Yayi's political ambition, the cleric said prayer must be accompanied by action.

“You need to move, you need to work. That is when you work and pray,” he said, urging Yayi to continue his efforts while seeking divine guidance.

Similarly, Comrade Azeez Olalekan, treasurer of Omo Gbobaniyi of Owu Kingdom, praised Yayi's educational interests and developmental interventions across Ogun State.

Olalekan added that Yayi had supported projects outside Ogun West, citing the construction of classroom blocks in Abeokuta and road projects in parts of the state as examples.

He also commended the senator for supporting Muslims to perform Hajj, saying his interventions had not been limited to his immediate constituency.
Other guests at the event, including Excellent Taofeek Fajobi, President of Excel Club 88; Asipa Nurudeen Oketokun, President of Owu Club; Olanrewaju Sodiya, popularly known as “Soro,” State Coordinator of the Yayi Alliance Movement; and Fatimo Akindele, representative of Owu Muslim Ladies, Abeokuta, also commended Yayi's contributions and pledged their support for his governorship ambition.

The event was held as supporters and associates continued to rally around Yayi's bid to govern Ogun State.
