Over 75 Promising Taekwondoists from 13 schools including primary schools, secondary schools and academies competed for medals in various contests at the recently concluded 3rd Pacific Junior Taekwondo Championship held over the weekend at the Alake Sports Complex in Ijeja, Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital
The schools included Randiant Minds, Bloomseed Elementary School, Brookfield School, Cedar Hall School, Noble Scholar School, Well Water Garden School, Orchid seed School, Classical Scholar School, Peace Foundation School, Noble House College, Lyceum School as well as Green Legacy Club and Pacific Academy , all based in Abeokuta
The one-day championship organized by the Ogun State Taekwondo Association in partnership with Pacific Taekwondo Academy and the State Sports Council featured poomsea (demonstration of skills) where youngsters , eight year -old Oyewole Delight from Pacific Academy displayed exceptional skills winning gold with 16 points, closely followed by Ajibola Ire-Oluwa with 14 points won silver while Salami Boluwatife with 10 points clinched bronze and Adebola Susan in fourth position
The competition also featured 19 other contests where Taekwondoists contested for medals
Chairman of the Ogun State Taekwondo Association and member of Nigeria Taekwondo Federation, Olori Omosalewa Aboderin-Olubusi charged the promising Taekwondoists to be the good ambassadors of the game and their respective schools, by displaying high level of discipline, promoting love and unity in the society
She urged them to always strive for excellence to become successful Olympiads , either winning medals at the Olympics in the game or doing very well in their academic pursuits to actualize their dreams of becoming medical doctors, aeronautic engineers and other career ambition
"Don't see yourself as competing with others but see yourself as competing with yourself for you to become a better version of yourself. Keep working hard, don't be discouraged, train hard to become the best version of yourself. Don't wait for anybody to add value, be yourself and shun all forms of anti-social vices ", she charged
The State Taekwondo Association Chairman accompanied by top Sports Technocrat, David Osuolale, also encouraged them to always trust in God to accomplish their various dreams in life, while announcing the a free coaching clinic coming up soon, to further expose them to various rules and techniques of the game
She was full of appreciation to parents of the children , teachers from various participating schools and their coaches for the successful conclusion of the third edition of the Taekwondo Junior Championship In the state capital
The State Acting Director of Sports Seyi Sonde was among dignitaries that graced the event
Medalists who emerged at the various finals in the competition included Omolola Sola (Africa School) who won Gold , Noibi AbdulRahmon ( Classical Scholar) Silver while Kinoshi Subomi (Cedar Hall) and Aremu Abdulmojid (Radiant School) jointly won Bronze
Adeola Abdulraheem (Classical Scholar) Gold, Aremu Abdulmumineen(Radiant Minds) Silver as well as Adegoke Gabriel (Well Water Garden School) and Faaiz Sanusi (Orchid seed School who jointly won Bronze
In other events decided, Adeniyi Abdul-Hammed won Gold, Shittu Abdul-Salam clinched Silver while Musiliu Malik and Sulaimon Muhammad jointly won Bronze
Also Sofela Samuel won Gold, Hammed Abdul-Jamal clinched Silver while both Ibrahim Soyoye and Alasa Dada won Bronze
Mercy Alabi won Gold beating her opponent Olu- Aladeyelu Deborah who won Silver while Abdul-Malik Yusuf (Bloomseed School) won Gold in his event beating Abiola Success (Lyceum School) who finished with Silver while Adekanbi Testimony (Well Water Garden School) and Ore-Oluwa Opeyemi (Bloomseed School) jointly won Bronze
Similarly Osoba Emmanuel clinched Gold leaving Sulaiman Abdul basit( Radiant Minds School) to Silver while the duo of Oloruntoba Solomon (Brook field School) and Apena Olatoye jointly won Bronze
Also Salami Boluwatife, Oni Odunayo and Alabi Goodness won Gold, Silver and Bronze in their contest while Abdulkabir Aisha won Gold , beating her opponent, Obateye Kashope who clinched Silver as both Ayinde Mujeebat and Adebola Susan jointly finished with Bronze
Apena Olamide, Oloyede Nelson and Kuye Michael finished their event, winning Gold, Silver and Bronze respectively
Other final decided saw Adegbite Iremide winning Gold, Ilori Emmanuel grabbing Silver while the duo of Abdul-azeem Dikrilah and Omolola Semilore finishing with Bronze
In another female contest, Abdulfatai Aisha won Gold, Saeed Amatu Salam clinched Silver while both Dosumu Olivia and Odunlami Olaoluwatomi won Bronze
Equally Adebayo Ridwan (Noble Scholar School) won Gold after defeating his opponent Adam Royhan (Radiant Minds School) who won Silver while the duo of Shittu Faheem ( Peace Foundation School) and Tokunbo Kushinro (Bloomseed School)won Bronze
Jemima Osinoga won Gold after beating her opponent, Atinshola Fehintola who clinched Silver in the final while both Adejuwon Princess and Adegbite Ire-Oluwa grabbed Bronze
Also Ahmed Abdul-rahmon clinched Gold in the final of his contest, leaving Dunjoyinbo Ola with Silver and both Sowunmi Ayatullah and Osugo Nathan with Bronze
Similarly Usman Mustapha (Radiant Minds School) won Gold, Toritse Gborgwa (Bloomseed School) Silver and the duo of Akanbi Fawas (Lyceum School) and Sanni Fikunyimi (Lyceum School) finished with Bronze
Farinde Tomilola (Bloomseed School) clinched Gold after defeating Adebola Silas (Pacific Academy) while both Sanusi Idris (Radiant Minds School) and Okiki Fasina (Pacific Academy) finished with Bronze
Oyewole Delight grabbed her second Gold, after defeating Olu Aladeyelu Sharon who won Silver in the final contest, while the duo of Akinbola Aisha and Lijadu Ayanfe won Bronze
Similarly Fadlurahman Yusuf (Noble Scholar School) won Gold after defeating defending champion Mukhtar Ayoola (Radiant Minds School) who finished with Silver while both Akinbami Ahmad (Peace Foundation School) and Ridwan Abdul-Salam (Radiant Minds School) won Bronze
