Ogun Govt Charges Learners On Continuous Effective Reading For Better Performance In Schools

Ogun State Government has charged learners to cultivate the habit of creating quality time for reading effectively before the commencement of any form of examination, so as to obtain better performances and come out with good grades.

Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu, gave the charge during the monitoring of the first day of the 2025/2026 Unified Promotion Examination at Ijebu-Ode, Remo and Yewa axis of the State, saying the real mechanism for students to record excellence performance was through thorough reading and comprehending what was read.

Prof. Arigbabu, accompanied by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Education, Dr. Lukmon Kiadese, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Mrs. Oluwatosin Oloko and the Special Assistant to the Governor on Education, Hon. Daniel Idowu, disclosed that government had put necessary machineries in place in all schools across the State, to aid efficient teaching and learning for uttermost performances of learners.

The Commissioner, expressed his satisfaction over the comportment of the school heads, teachers and learners during the examinations assured, parents that government would continue to invest massively on developmental infrastructure to further enhance the standard of education.

He reiterated the commitment of Prince Dapo Abiodun's administration to work till the last day of its tenure towards continuous provision of dividends of democracy to learners and to ensure schools at all levels are put into proper perspectives.

"Before schools resumes for the next session, people should look out for the massive construction and rehabilitation of classrooms and school buildings in all schools, up to tertiary institutions. Governor Dapo Abiodun has also promised to invest hugely in all the Five Special Needs Schools in the State for total transformation," Arigbabu said.

Prof. Arigbabu, also embarked on facility visit to the Government Technical College, Ajegunle, where he said that the procurement and installation of world class equipment in all the technical colleges in the State, as well as repositioning initiative of the government in Technical and Vocational Education Training (TVET) had earned the State its number one position in the TVET sector.

Speaking, the Principals of Our Lady of Apostles Secondary School, (Snr) Ijebu-Ode, Mrs. Ikhane Kayode and that of Yewa/Egbado College (Snr), Mr. Masanwo Sunday, expressed their gratitude to Prince Dapo Abiodun for all the inputs in the education sector, describing him as the Education-Loving Governor of Ogun State. They also commended the Commissioner for Education for his proactiveness.

Schools visited were Anglican Girls' Grammar School, Ijebu-Ode, Our Lady of Apostles Secondary School (public and private), Ijebu-Ode, Isanbi High School, Ilisan, Orile-Igbore Grammar School, Ajura, Oluaso High School, Imasayi, Eyinni Comprehensive High School, Iboro, Yewa/Egbado College, Ilaro and Government Technical College, Ajegunle.
