Ogun State Head of Service, Mr. Olanrewaju Saka has called on government officials to always maintain clean environment, so as to ensure
effective and efficient service delivery to the people
The State Head of Service gave the charge on Wednessday while monitoring the re-introduced bi-monthly environmental sanitation within the State secretariat at Oke Mosan, Abeokuta.
According to him, God created nature for the use of man but activities of man depreciated the beautiful nature created by God, thus, the need for constant maintenance of the environment to prevent untoward actions.
The HoS said maintenance of clean environment among other things add aesthetic value to nature, keep the Civil Servants safe from attacks of harmful reptiles and also to commemorate the World Environment Day.
"In line with the effort of the Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, who has upscaled the faces of some of the buildings within the secretariat, there is need to complement this kind gesture by ensuring constant maintenance of these buildings and its surroundings", Mr. Saka said.
He said the initiative was agreed upon during his inaugural meeting with the Body of Permanent Secretaries as one of his blueprints to ensure clean and safe environment within the secretariat.
He appealed to the Civil/Public Servants in the State to key into the initiative without any coarse for the benefit of all stakeholders.
He however commended the Permanent Secretaries and the entire Public Servants for trouping out in their large numbers to partake in the the maiden edition of the exercise and appreciated all the members of the monitoring team, including the environmental health officials for their support and engagements.
Offices monitored included the Ministries of Transportation and Environment, Bureau of Local Government Pensions, the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Local Government Commission, Auditor General for Local Government, amongst others.
