All is set for the Female National Heavyweight Contest between highly rated Blessing Chukwuede and her opponent, simply identifies as Blessing, slated for this Saturday, June 20, 2026 at the indoor hall of Alake Sports Complex in Ijeja, Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital
Chukwuede a Southpaw boxer who started her professional boxing career fight on February 2, 2025, has never lost, winning all the six bouts recorded, including five knock-out
She will be taking on namesake, Blessing in the main-bout of the event being jointly organized by De-Rock Boxing Promotion and Nigeria Boxing Federation with the support of Elevated Boxing Academy and Deciouss
The bout has been described as a rematch that will shake the National Heavyweight Division in the country
Other bouts slated for the day include National Lightweight Contest between Qudus Adebayo and Ezekiel Etukeren, Quadri Ilori taking on Stephen Agbor in the National Super Lightweight, while David Akintoka trade punches with Kazeem Lawal in the National Middleweight contest
Similarly, Peter Ejieke clash with Ebenezer Vincent in the National Super Middleweight Contest

The event will also feature the maiden edition of South West Quarterly Developmental Boxing Tournament
According to the sponsor of the event, Hon. Omonlei Yakubu Imadu, who also serves as the South West Boxing Zonal Representative and Vice President of the Nigeria Boxing Federation, the tournament reflects his desire to develop grassroots boxing and his commitment to the progress of the sport.
South West youths he noted, are naturally endowed with talent for boxing, and said investment in them cannot be a waste. The initiative, he added, is part of his campaign promises to create more opportunities for young boxers in the zone and raise the standard of boxing at the regional level.
The Tournament Director, Mr. Osuolale Leye David, hinted that the event will be rotational, moving to other South West states with the facilities to host every 3 months.
He called on states across the zone to rally round their teams and give the necessary support, saying he enjoys the love of the game and believes collective effort will take South West boxing to greater heights.
