Al-Mu'minaat Egba-Yewa Zone Professional Seminar: Experts Charge Muslim Women On Multiple Sources To Overcome Economic Hardship


Experts have charged Muslim women to acquire additional skills and identify multiple sources of income for them to be more relevant in their respective careers and overcome the economic hardship in Nigeria 

They made the call on Saturday in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital during a Professional Seminar organized by the Egba-Yewa Zone of Al-Mu'minaat, the (Believing Muslim Organization), with the aim of empowering Muslimah financially in the society 

The Director of Health Insurance Operations and Risk Manager at the Ogun State Health Insurance Agency (OGHIA) , Dr(Mrs) Sarat Adebayo in her lecture titled "Economic Empowerment for Muslimah": Building Income and Navigating Inflation ", emphasized the importance of Muslim women identifying various business opportunities and acquiring additional skills to support present jobs or careers, so as to make more income for themselves and their families 

She encouraged to them to imbibe the spirit of reinvesting profits from their businesses in buying of shares at Nigeria Stocks Exchange market or investing in bonds and other financial investments that would make them to be financially independence as prescribed by Islam which forbids begging for alms for women who are physically strong to earn a living for themselves and support their families 

Dr. Adebayo however advised Muslim women to always embrace various technological initiatives to effectively strike a balance between their homes and work places 







For instance, she added that they should make good use of technology to ensure proper monitoring of their multiple businesses without their physical presence while taking advantage of electronic cooking items to effectively carry out domestic roles as mothers and wives in their homes 







She urged them to be creative, by identifying their passions and exploring business opportunities in such passion capable of finding solutions to the needs in the society 





Similarly panel of experts including Alhaja Aishat Anifowose, Alhaja Mariam Alagbala and Mrs Rabiat Abikan examined how Muslim women can over come the challenges and take advantage of opportunities in their respective careers , saying they must strike a balance between their professions and homes without losing Islamic values and culture 

Mother of the day at the event, Dr. Latifah Adebayo also emphasized that Muslimah must demonstrate high level of competency in their professions to excel and get to the peak of such careers 


She advised young Muslim women to engage in pre-marital discussion with their prospective husbands and agree on how to build an ideal Muslim homes where both interests of husband and wife are protected 

In the second lecture titled "Maintaining A Healthy Lifestyle In Mid-age, Mrs Hafsat Opeita, a registered Nurse and Business Entrepreneur, stressed the need for regular exercise, ensuring nutrition are properly balanced which must include consumption of a lot of vegetables and fruits, protein, carbohydrate, fat and oil 




She equally encouraged Muslim women to attend social events to enable interact with others and exchange knowledge and ideas while advising them to prioritize regular medical check up.and preventative screening to know their health status and detect deceases 

Earlier, Amirah of the Egba-Yewa Zone of Al-Mu'minaat, Hajia Halimah Hamzah Mutairu in her opening speech, described the Professional Seminar as 
not just a seminar but a push to act. Network, ask questions, and them take a vital step that will transform their homes as good Muslimah and shining examples for Islam in the society 






She encouraged them to make good of the knowledge gained at the seminar by practicalizing halal ways to earn, save, and grow wealth with barakah in addition to maintaining healthy lifestyle to serve Allah with strength as Muslim women 

"Sisters, Islam calls us to _ihsan_ — excellence — in every part of life. That includes our money and our health. Allah says: _“Whoever does righteousness, male or female, while a believer – We will surely cause them to live a good life.”_ Q16:97"

We thank Allah for bringing us together today as Muslim women professionals under the theme *“Empowered Muslimah", she stated
