A World Bank delegation on Aquaculture Development and Expansion in Nigeria has paid a courtesy visit to the Vice-Chancellor of Lagos State University, Distinguished Professor Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, following a knowledge-exchange visit to the University.
Speaking during the visit over the weekend, the Manager, Global Department for the Environment, World Bank Group, Mr Ru *JANG*, who led the delegation, stated that the team was at the University to explore the activities of the *Centre for Marine and Blue Economy Research (CEMBER), formerly known as the Centre of Excellence for Sargassum Research, with a view to strengthening research and market-driven product development in the field of aquaculture.
The Director of CEMBER, Professor Morenike Adewolu , alongside Professor of Fisheries, Professor Shehu Akintola , who both facilitated the visit, assured the Vice-Chancellor of the Centre’s readiness to engage productively with the World Bank delegation in advancing research and development initiatives in aquaculture.
In her remarks, the Vice-Chancellor, Distinguished Professor Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, expressed delight at the visit and commended the delegation for its interest in the University’s research activities.
She expressed confidence that the expertise and capacity within CEMBER and the Department of Fisheries would significantly support the delegation’s mission to deepen knowledge and innovation in aquaculture development.
