Pensioners in Ogun State have applauded the State Government under the leadership of Prince Dapo Abiodun for approving free Health Insurance Scheme for the senior citizens.
The President of Nigeria Union of Pensioners, Ogun State Council, Comrade Waidi Oloyede, in a letter passionately addressed to the State Governor through the Head of Service, Mr. Kehinde Onasanya, expressed heartfelt appreciation to the Governor for the approval granted to include them in the Health Insurance Scheme at the expense of the government.
Oloyede, who described Governor Abiodun as a kind-hearted and pensioners-friendly Governor said the decision to approve their inclusion in the system is a landmark intervention that would directly address one of the most pressing challenges faced by the pensioners.
"Advancing age comes with increased medical needs and the financial burden has often been overwhelming on the meagre pensions. By extending the Health Insurance Scheme to retirees, your administration has once again acceded to one of our major concerns and have demonstrated compassion, foresight and commitment to the welfare of those who have dedicated their productive years to the service of Ogun State," Com. Oloyede said.
He said the gesture had reinforced their confidence that Governor Abiodun and by extension the administration truly value the senior citizens and understood that retirement should not mean abandonment or hardship.
Oloyede, however assured the Governor of their continued support, prayers and partnership as he chose to advance the administration's "Building Our Future Together" agenda.
