Governor Dapo Abiodun says his administration has disbursed a total sum of N94 billion since 2019 as deductions to Pension Administration Managers, so as to ensure smooth collection of retirement benefits for workers on the payroll of Ogun State Government under the Contributory Pension Scheme
Governor Abiodun who revealed this over the weekend in Abeokuta during the 2026 May Day celebration held at the June 12 Cultural Centre, also disclosed another obligation exceeding N36.7 billion deductions from salaries of workers was settled in fulfillment of the promise made to the organized labour in the state
Abiodun represented by his deputy Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele, said the remittance of the various deductions to the appropriate quarters, has restored the confidence of the prospective retirees in the Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS)
"We have cleared the gratuities inherited from the previous years of past administrations and commence full implementation of Contributory Pension Scheme.These steps taken demonstrated our administration's determination to build a sustainable pension system"
He maintained that the present administration in the State had improved the workers' working conditions
" I urge the workforce to remain dedicated disciplined and forward looking to the service, as the administration addresses the problem of insecurity and others ", he assured
A total of 5,165 officers according to the governor, have been recruited between 2020 and 2025 to further demonstrate the commitment of government to professionalism , efficiency and innovations in the public service
Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Right Honourable Oludaisi Elemide, Secretary to the State Government, Tokubo Talabi, Chief of Staff, Dr. Oluwatoyin Taiwo, top and veteran labour leaders amongst other dignatries attended the event
