Eid-el-Kabir: Ogun MURIC Calls For Special Prayers For Peace, Protection Against Growing kidnappings, killings

Ogun State Chapter of Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC ) has expressed concern over the insecurity in the country, calling
for special prayers for peace, safety and divine intervention against the growing wave of kidnappings, killings and banditry ravaging the Southwest region of Nigeria.

The Islamic human rights organisation in a Eid-el-Kabir statement by its State Chairman, Ustaadh Jimoh Tajudeen Alao , made available to Edu-biznews by the State Secretary, Ambassador Olaleye Rasheed Damilare, appealed to Nigerians to look beyond political distractions and focus on the urgent task of securing lives and property before the situation further deteriorates.

"At a time when children, teachers, and ordinary citizens can no longer move freely without fear, not because of government restrictions like those of the COVID-19 era, but because criminal elements now operate as though they are more powerful than the government itself, Nigerians must rise and speak with one voice against this nightmare"

"Communities are under siege. Fear has become a daily companion. Innocent souls are being abducted, tortured and murdered in cold blood while families continue to suffer in silence"

"Recently, schools have become soft targets for kidnappers and bandits. Teachers and pupils were abducted, while some victims were gruesomely murdered. This barbaric and inhuman act must be condemned by all people of conscience", the group decried

MURIC in the statement, urged Muslims to use the festive period of Eid-el-Kabir characterised by immense forgiveness and answering of sincere prayers by Allah, to dedicate their supplications towards peace, security and stability in the Southwest and Nigeria as a whole

The statement further reads in part:

"The insecurity confronting our people is becoming more dangerous and unbearable. Families who have never seen thirty million naira in their entire lives are suddenly forced to raise huge ransom payments to rescue their loved ones from kidnappers. Sadly, some victims are still killed even after the ransom is paid'

"Many survivors now live with severe psychological trauma and emotional torment. Those who regain freedom from the hands of bandits may never recover from the horrifying experiences they have passed through"

"These painful realities are the reasons we urge Muslims to channel their prayers towards seeking Allah’s intervention for peace and security, especially in Oyo State and some parts of Ogun State currently experiencing serious security threats"

"While politicians are busy fighting over positions and supporters are divided over political interests, insecurity continues to consume innocent citizens daily. Distraction and silence must not become the order of the day"

*Who will save the ordinary people from this trauma?* *The wealthy may easily escape abroad on the next available flight, but where will the poor masses run to?*

"We especially appeal to Muslims currently performing Hajj to remember Nigeria, particularly the Southwest, in their prayers before the Ka‘bah. The cries, tears and blood of innocent Nigerians must never be politicised"

"Be intentional in your prayers. Pray for peace. Pray for protection. Pray that Almighty Allah exposes and disgraces all those behind this evil and restores lasting safety to our land. Pray for victory over bandits", the statement concluded
