Prof. Iyabo Obasanjo has rated herself as the most prepared among other aspirants seeking the platform of the All Progressive Congress (APC) to contest for the governorship seat of Ogun State in the 2027 general election in the state
She recalled her previous experiences as former Commissioner for Health between 2003 and 2007 and later as a Senator (Ogun Central) between 2007 and 2011 , saying no one is better prepared or most competent for the job than herself
Obasanjo who was speaking on Saturday as a guest of "Media Parliament", a live programme on radio , organized by the Ogun State Council of Nigeria Unions of Journalists (NUJ) at its Secretariat in Abeokuta, also promised to give priority to qualitative education and sustained industrial growth of the state as industrial hub of the country , if elected as the next governor in 2027
She revealed that her first 100 days in office would focus on construction of more rural roads to make them accessible for people and encourage investors to establish factories in rural communities as part of efforts to increase the number of the existing industries in the state to create more jobs for the people and revenue for the state
The governorship aspirant also promised to initiate policy that would encourage inclusion of Vocational Education in the secondary school curriculum to produce students who are good in various vacational trade such as bricks laying amongst others and support those who want to start small scale businesses in such trades with start-up capital
Obasanjo equally revealed that bonus would be given to young individuals , as a form of incentive to teach and see teaching as a way of starting up their career and contributing to education sector in the state
"We need to start changing the mindset of our youth to see teaching as a start up job , we need to encourage them in various vacational trades right from school and support them with start up capital to start their businesses", she stated
She added that more investors would be encouraged to set up factories for massive production of solar panels to make the product more affordable for people to generate electricity through solar energy, saying it will reduce pressure from the national grid
For Obasanjo, a Professor in Public Health( Veterinary Medicine) at a University in the United States, the passion to serve the people, is the driving force behind her joining the governorship race in 2027
"The passion to serve my people and support individuals to grow in every community across Ogun State, is the reason behind the interest to join race for the governorship seat in 2027 on the platform of the All Progressive Congress (APC). I'm the most prepared for the job, because of my understanding of the political terrain as former Commissioner for Health between 2003 and 2007 and Senator who represented the Ogun Central Senatorial District between 2007 and 2011 . We need to ensure qualitative education to develop the required man power for local industries "

"I'm only interested in the governorship seat and not because I want to be Deputy Governor or be compensated with the appointment to be a Minister, if not elected to contest on the platform of APC. I will still support the party and continue with job in the academics, As a PhD holder I can work anywhere in the world", she maintained
Earlier the State Chairman of NUJ, Comrade Wale Olarewaju assured that the union would continue to provide equal media opportunity for all aspirants seeking to contest for various elective positions in the 2027 general election,to showcase what they have for the people of the State
