LASU Cautions Fresh Sandwich Students Against Exam Malpractice, Other Vices , Charges Them To Focus On Studies

Management of the Lagos State University has cautioned its newly admitted students for Sandwich Degree Programme of the university against examination malpractice and other vices, reiterating the institution’s zero-tolerance stance on indiscipline

Dean of the Faculty of Education, Prof. Olugbenga Akindoju read the riot-act over the weekend during an orientation ceremony for fresh students in the 2025 Modular Year, organized by LASU Directorate of Sandwich Degree Programme at the Buba Marwa Auditorium on the Ojo main campus of the university 

He encouraged the students to uphold the core values of LASU throughout their academic journey, advising them to remain focused, purposeful, and driven towards excellence.

The Dean while congratulating the newly admitted students, described their admission as a reflection of resilience, determination, and a desire for self-improvement. 

The orientation programme according to him, was carefully designed to acquaint them with the university’s academic structure, policies, and available resources.

The Dean further stressed that while the sandwich programme offers flexibility, it requires a high level of discipline, integrity, and commitment

The Director of the Sandwich Degree Programme, Prof. John Adeogun had earlier in his opening speech, described the programme as one of the best in the country, assuring students that certificates awarded are equivalent to those of regular students.

 He emphasised the Directorate’s readiness to support students in achieving outstanding academic success. 

The orientation featured a series of lecture sessions delivered by key university officials such as the Dean, Students’ Affairs, Prof. Abiodun *Fatai-Abatan*, represented by Mr Kehinde *Jinadu*; Director, Directorate of Information and Communication Technology (DICT), Prof. Oluwatoyin *Enikuomehin*, represented by Deputy Director, DICT, Mr James *Ashiyanbi*; Acting Director, Centre for Response and Prevention of Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (CRPSGBV), Prof. Igot *Ofem*; Acting Director, Directorate of Sports and Recreation, Mr Idowu *Owoyemi*; Head, Counselling Unit, Dr Joseph *Ayeni*; Deputy Bursar, Mr Emmanuel *Sosu-Olaitan*; and Chief Security Coordinator, CSP Oluwole *Ojo* (Rtd.).

The students were also encouraged to build meaningful relationships with peers and staff, seek guidance when necessary, and fully utilise the support structures put in place by the university. The interactive nature of the sessions allowed students to ask questions and gain clarity on issues relating to their academic and personal development.

The ceremony concluded on a high note, with a renewed call for dedication, resilience, and the pursuit of excellence.
