Chairman of the Ogun State Council of Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Comrade Hameed Benco-Ademola has applauded Governor Dapo Abiodun for his administration N10,000 monthly and one-day off duty weekly palliative package for workers to cushion the economic hardship of the hike in the pump price of petrol
Governor Abiodun had earlier on April 16, announced the three months palliative package, beginning from this month with the aim of easing the burden of transportation fares on workers
The State NLC Chairman commended the palliative package shortly after a thanks service on Sunday at Cathedral of Saint Peter Church in Ake, Abeokuta, as part of activities marking this year's May Day celebration in the state
Benco-Ademola assured the governor of continuous understanding of the labour movement at every given time, describing his administration as workers friendly
The NLC boss was full of prayers for the governor whom he said, has been extending love and regards to the workers and celebrating with workers at every "May Day"
He used the opportunity to appreciate the leadership of the Union at the State Council and Local Councils for their resilient, support and doggedness in making sure the Union achieved numerous successes for the workforce in the state
Prayers were offered by the presiding cleric during the thanks giving service for the leaders and entire members of the union ahead of the grand-finale of the 2026 Workers' Day holding on Friday, May 1, 2026
The State Council of NLC had last week Friday, April 24, 2026, commenced its week long activities for the celebration of this year's May Day with Jumat service at the Main Abeokuta Central Mosque in Kobiti area and later organized award ceremony to honoured four distinguished individuals including the General Manager of OGTV, Babatunde Kazeem for their support to labour movement in the state
