Babcock University, Ilishan-Remo in Ogun State has reaffirmed its commitment to professionalize teaching and strengthen accountability in the classroom, with the hosting of 6th induction of 73 graduates into the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN).
President/Vice-Chancellor of the university, Professor Afolarin Olutunde Ojewole, during the ceremony held at the main campus in Ilishan-Remo, commended the inductees for the resilience and rigour they put into the training.
“This is a milestone that not only celebrates your academic achievements but your readiness to shape minds, mould characters and build the future of our nation,” said Prof. Ojewole
He praised TRCN’s oversight and the Federal Government’s recognition of education as a cornerstone of national development, affirming that Babcock remains resolute in its commitment to partner with institutionalized government-regulated bodies like TRCN to elevate standards in Nigerian education sector
While administering the oath of allegiance, the TRCN Registrar/CEO, Dr. Ronke Soyombo, urged the newly qualified teachers to embrace teaching as a noble vocation defined by integrity, passion, and compassion.
She reminded the graduates that teaching is the profession that guards all others, producing judges, engineers, leaders, and senators.
“We are looking for teachers who will not only be hardworking, but work smart. Your work is going to fill a large part of your life; the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work and the only way to do great work is to love what you do,” she admonished.
The induction ceremony marked the graduates’ transition from learners to custodians of knowledge, truth, and servants of humanity.
Dean of the Joel Awoniyi School of Education and Humanities, Professor Olubunmi Idowu, highlighted TRCN’s role in standardizing the teaching profession and promoting accountability, noting that professionalizing teaching is essential to improving educational outcomes nationwide.
By aligning with TRCN’s vision, Babcock University reinforces its dedication to producing teachers who are not only academically qualified but also ethically grounded, thereby contributing to the transformation of Nigeria’s education system and the nurturing of future leaders and ensuring that education continues to serve as the bedrock of national development.
