Youths in Orile Oko, have led other stakeholders and members of the community in Remo North Local Government Area of Ogun State in a peaceful protest to the palace of Akarigbo of Remoland in Sagamu, against the planned installation of Koye Ijaduoye as Asiwaju of Orile Oko community , insisting Chief Samson Adegboyega remains the Asiwaju of the community
Scores of protesters stormed the palace of the paramount ruler Oba Adewale Ajayi on Wednesday, chanting solidarity songs in support of Samson Adegboyega as the authentic Asiwaju and displaying placards of various bold inscriptions rejecting the move to replace him with Koye Ijaduoye by Moses Fadairo who was recently installed as Baale of Orile-Oko on March 10, 2026
The Akogun of Orile Oko, Amb.Olasunkanmi Ijaduoye who led the demonstration to the palace , said members of the community have formally petitioned the Department of State Security Services (DSS) headquarters in Abuja and that of the Nigeria Police Force, seeking the urgent intervention of Inspector General of Police (IGP) to prevent the situation from generating to break down of law and order and sustain peaceful co-existence of people within the community
The community in the petition, expressed concern over the behaviour , saying it is a source of distress and tension among youths and leaders in the community
"His actions have been described as intolerable, posing a significant threat to the freedom and unity of Orile-Oko people""
The youths in the petition, maintained that Koye Ijaduoye has not contributed to the growth of the community, accusing him of being a self-centered individual whose actions do not align with the values or aspirations of the community
They urged Koye Ijaduoye to choose another Chieftaincy title that does not undermine or disrupt the efforts of those who have tirelessly contributed to the Orile-Oko development and its educational advancement
The youths then called on the security agencies and Ogun State Government to take decisive action to restore peace and order in Orile Oko and affirm High Chief Samson Adegboyega as Asiwaju of Orile Oko community
Responding , the Chief of Staff to Akarigbo, Bamofin of Remoland, Adebayo Onafuwa assured the protesters of the paramount ruler quick response, once the petition by the community gets to the palace
He warned that no one can install anybody with the same Chieftaincy when the holder of such title is still alive , quoting the existing provisions of the State Chieftaincy Law
The protest to the palace was a follow up to the earlier press conference organized by the Orile Oko Traditional Council of Chiefs in Abeokuta on March 18, 2026 where the chiefs and other stakeholders insisted that High Chief Samson Adegboyega who was installed nine years ago by the late Oloko of Orile Oko, Oba Oseni is still the Asiwaju, rejecting the move to replace him by Koye Ijaduoye
They called on Governor Dapo Abiodun to quickly intervene and prevent possible break down of law and order in the community
