MACE Club OF Nigeria Elects MACE (Chief) Aliu Ajani Odunmbaku, PhD As 12th President




In a moment of great significance and pride for members of the prestigious Mace Club of Nigeria, history was recorded in the ancient city of Abeokuta as Mace (Dr.) Aliu Ajani Odunmbaku, PhD was overwhelmingly elected as the 12th President of the Club.

Founded on 1st April, 1984 in Abeokuta, the capital of Ogun State, the Mace Club of Nigeria began as a noble vision of fifteen vibrant young men with an average age of 23, who were united by a common desire for friendship, mutual support, leadership development and community impact.

From those humble beginnings, the Club has steadily grown in stature, reputation and influence to become one of the most respected and prestigious social clubs in Nigeria today.

The well attended elections which drew members from within and outside Abeokuta the state capital was anchored by a 3-member Mace Electoral Commission headed by Mace Soji Sogbolu as it's Chairman and Maces Babatunde Oduwaiye and Temitope Lasilo as members. 

Other Executive Officers elected at the just concluded elections include Mace Toyin Obatosin, Esq as Vice President, Mace Engnr. Jide Adebayo as General Secretary and Mace Edward Lasilo as the Club's new Director of Socials and Public Relations.

The emergence of Mace (Dr.) Aliu Ajani Odunmbaku,as President followed a keenly contested but peaceful and transparent election, reflecting the Club’s long-standing culture of democracy, fairness and respect for its constitution.

Dr. Odunmbaku, a distinguished Chief Lecturer in the Department of Marketing at Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Abeokuta, is widely admired for his intellectual depth, exemplary leadership qualities, humility and dedication to service. His academic achievements, administrative competence and strong interpersonal skills have earned him immense respect within and beyond the academic community.

In his acceptance speech after his victory, Mace (Dr.) Odunmbaku first returned all glory to Almighty Allah, expressing profound gratitude for the grace and opportunity to serve. He sincerely appreciated all members of the Club for the confidence and trust reposed in him and the newly elected executive team.

The newly elected President assured members that his administration would prioritize unity, transparency, inclusiveness and strict adherence to the Club’s constitution and established rules. He emphasized his commitment to running an open-door policy, where every member’s voice would be valued and respected.

Furthermore, he pledged to leverage his vast experience in leadership, management and administration to strengthen the institutional structure of the Club, promote its noble ideals, enhance member engagement and elevate the reputation of the Mace Club of Nigeria to even greater prominence.

Members of the Club have expressed great confidence that his wealth of experience in management and administration will usher in a new era of growth, unity and progressive development for the Mace Club of Nigeria.

Members also showered encomiums on the new President and his Executive Council, describing them as men of honour, integrity and proven capacity, whose leadership will undoubtedly consolidate the achievements of past administrations while charting new paths for progress and excellence.




As the new leadership begins its tenure, members and well-wishers have offered heartfelt prayers for divine guidance, wisdom and success.

May Almighty God grants the new President and his Executive Council the wisdom, strength and good health required to lead the Mace Club of Nigeria to greater accomplishments. May their tenure be peaceful, impactful and filled with remarkable achievements that will further strengthen the legacy of this great and noble Club. The new Executive Council had since been sworn in during the March 15th, 2026 monthly meeting of the Club as the 2 years tenure already commenced.

The future of the Mace Club of Nigeria indeed looks brighter.
