Vice-Chancellor of Lagos State University, Professor Ibiyemi Ibilola Olatunji-Bello has lauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on the renewal of the appointment of Professor Ayo Omotayo as the Director-General of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Kuru, Jos, Nigeria*
The Vice-Chancellor in a statement on behalf of the Management and the entire University community, congratulated the former Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences of the university
Professor Omotayo's fresh appointment for a final term of four years, was announced in a press release signed by the Special Adviser to the President (Information and Strategy), Mr Bayo Onanuga on Wednesday, 4th March 2026
Omotayo, a professor of Environmental Sustainability, was initially appointed by the immediate past President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, the late Muhammadu Buhari in November 2021, and the Senate confirmed the appointment in February 2022.
The Vice-Chancellor notes that the reappointment of Professor Ayo Omotayo by President Tinubu is a testament to the sterling performance, hard work, expertise, and outstanding achievements recorded by the appointee in the first four years of his leadership at the Institute.
Prof.Olatunji- Bello equally appreciates Prof.. Ayo Omotayo for his sense of discipline, diligence, dedication to duty, commitment to the national call, and for giving the university a perfect representation.
She expresses optimism that his second term of four years as the Director-General, NIPSS, will further promote excellence, growth and development at the Institute, and also positively project the enviable image of the most digitally advanced state university in Nigeria – Lagos State University.
The University wishes Prof. Omotayo a successful tenure of office as he continues to consolidate his laudable achievements.
