Henry Nwosu, (MON) , the youngest member of the then historic Green Eagles squad that won the 1980 edition of Africa Cup of Nations AFCON hosted by Nigeria died at the age of 62 in Lagos
The late Nwosu was also part of the Eagles side in Libya 1982, and later won silver in the finals of both 1984 and 1988 editions in Coted'Ivoire and Morocco respectively
Mathematical Segun Odegbami, a highly respected senior member of the victorious 1980 squad who broke the sad news on his Facebook page, said that the deceased passed on at the early hours of Saturday at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, Ikeja
Nwosu according to him, has been bed ridden for the past five days at the hospital before his eventual death
"After 5 days in hospital battling for his life, the one I call ‘Youngest Millionaire’ passed on at 4:00 am this morning at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, Ikeja, Lagos where he had been in Intensive Care since Wednesday"
"It is with deep pain in my heart that I have to be the conveyor of the news of the death of Henry Nwosu MON, the youngest of the victorious 1980 AFCON squad"
"May he rest peacefully with our Creator in Heaven", Segun Odegbami concluded
