Professor Zulum, the university's visitor announced the offer on Saturday during during the institution's maiden combined convocation for three academic sessions (2022/2023, 2023/2024, and 2024/2025), with 26 students achieving a first-class degree out of the total of 2,294 students who graduated with various degrees from Faculty of Agriculture, Faculty of Arts and Education, Faculty of Science and Faculty of Social and Management Sciences
The overall best graduating student in each of the three academic sessions according to the governor would be employed as academic staff in the university in addition to scholarships for their post graduate education
Governor Zulum who appreciated Vice-President, Kashim Shettima whose administration established the university in 2016 , also revealed his government plan to established four more faculties including Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Computing, Faculty of Law and one other faculty
The governor later announced the conferment of Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi as Chancellor of the university, saying the installation of the riveered monarch further demonstrated the historical ties between the Yorubas and people of Born State
Vice-Chancellor of the university, Prof. Babagana Gutti had earlier lauded both Governor Zulum for sustaining the efforts of the predecessor and Vice President, Shettima, with the construction of additional infrastructure including lecture halls, ICT centre, Mass Communication studio for the training of students, remodeling of Hostel facilities, road network on campus amongst others
The Vice-Chancellor also listed other ongoing projects including the eleven being funded by TETFUND and those being executed by well-meaning individuals who are committed to the physical growth of the university
Speaking on behalf of the graduating students, Muhammed Usman from Agriculture Economics Department, appreciated government, management and academic staff of the university for the investment in them, promising the graduands will be good ambassadors of the university by using the knowledge acquired to contribute positively to the growth of the society
Dignitaries at the event included Vice President Shettima, governors , Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State, Inua Wada of Gombe State, representative of Kebbi State, Chancellor , Ooni of Ife, Oba Ogunwusi, Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Governing Council, Alhaji (Dr ) Mohammed Idimi , Shehu of Borno Umar El-Kanemi, Vice-Chancellors of neighbouring universities amongst others
