FG Farmer-moni : Ogun Govt Begins Sensitization Of Small-Holder Farmers On Inclusive Registration For Dry Season Farming

Ogun State Government has commenced sensitization of farmers on the need for them to partake in the ongoing new registration exercise for dry season farming in the State, as part of the initiatives of the Federal Government to sustain all year round food for all in Nigeria 

The State Commissioner for Special Duties and Inter-governmental Affairs, Hon. Olufunmilayo Efuwape, while addressing the farmers in Abeokuta, said the new registration exercise was meant for members of the small-holder farmers and rural farmers, especially those that were members of farmer’s cooperative society or farmer’s clusters.

Represented by the State Programme Manager, Mr. David Adedigba, Hon. Efuwape explained that the Federal Government Social Investment Programme known as Government Enterprises Empowerment Programme (GEEP) popularly called "FarmerMoni", targeted at enhancing food security and promoting economic growth in the nation

She reaffirmed that the registration exercise would be free, adding that, ‘farmermonie’ would not require any forms of collateral or interest.

"The Federal Government gesture aimed at boosting agricultural productivity and strengthening national food security in line with this, Ogun State is sensitising different farmer’s clusters for an inclusive registration exercise for dry season farming in the State," Hon. Efuwape submitted.

She added that the GEEP programme is under the supervision of the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Poverty Reduction and Social Development, with a new registration portal: http//GEEP.gov.ng, advising intending farmers to come with any valid means of identification.

The Commissioner enjoined those who had registered on the GEEP Dashboard to revalidate their information through the designated data update portal http//fmdata revalidation.nsipa.gov.ng.

Responding, the Chairmen, Ajegunle Farm Settlement, Mr. Rotimi Sogunle and Maize Association of Nigeria, Alhaji Jimoh Aderogba, respectively applauded the initiave, assuring to mobilise their members for the registration exercise and extend the information to others.
