Ogun State Teaching Service Commission says teachers in public secondary schools will start getting their letters of reposting to various schools at the beginning of the second term in January, 2026 for the 2025/2026 academic session
The State TESCOM Chairman, Apostle Biodun Sanyaolu who disclosed this on Tuesday during a press conference at his office in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, said the redistribution exercise of the teachers would be concluded by the commission before the end of the ongoing second term holiday and the reposting letters would be issued to the teachers
He explained that the redistribution exercise became necessary to address in the imbalance in the distribution of teachers in public secondary schools in the state
According to him, there are enough teachers in public secondary schools but they are not properly distributed among schools in the urban, semi-urban and rural areas, hence the need for redistribution of the existing teachers to ensure students have equal access to good number of teachers
He decried the situation, where some of the schools are having more enough teachers in a particular subject while some other schools have shortage of teachers in such subject
Apostle Sanyaolu, however described the redistribution exercise as most challenging experience for him, saying the commission under his leadership resisted every attempt by the highly placed individuals to influence the reposting of the affected teachers to various schools across the state
"Some schools in urban areas are supposed to have between 30 and 40 teachers, but they are having 74, 82 and 89 , more than double they are supposed to have . And there are some schools in the semi-urban and rural areas, who have 50 percent or less of teachers they are supposed to have "
"It takes a man of big-heart to do this redistribution of teachers ", he stated
He assured teachers being reposted to rural areas of improved incentives, saying TESCOM is working on the upward review of the allowances to encourage the teachers and create a conducive working environment for them to teach in the classrooms
The TESCOM boss also revealed that another batch of 1,000 teachers under the OgunTEACH initiative of the Prince Dapo Abiodun's administration, would be deployed to various public secondary schools in the coming month of January, 2026 to further improve on the quality of teaching in the public secondary schools in the state
He equally appreciated Governor Abiodun for the rehabilitation and construction of Yellow roof classrooms which has continued to ensure conducive environment for teaching and learning
On retraining of teachers, Apostle Sanyaolu promised that the commission would be organizing a workshop during the ongoing break, to further equip the teachers with the modern method of teaching in classrooms
He urged the teachers to see themselves as shinning light that will shape the future of their students while encouraging students to always be serious with their education to be successful in their future endeavours
The TESCOM Chairman maintained that the commission would continue to protect teachers and students against any form of molestation or harassment in schools
