Two hundred and ninety-one out of the fresh Eight Thousand, Six hundred and fifty-four (8,654) graduands will be awarded Distinction grade, just as three eminent Nigerians including CEO and Chairman of BUA Group, Abdul-Samad Isyaku Rabiu, Senate Leader, Michael Opeyemi Bamidele, SAN, and Senator, Solomon Olamilekan Yayi will be honoured with Fellowship Awards at the 37th Convocation Ceremony of Yaba College of Technology, Lagos holding on Thursday, November 20, 2025
Rector of the nation's premier tertiary institution, Dr.(Engr.) Ibraheem Adedotun Abdul who revealed this on Friday during a press conference herading the convocation ceremony activities which started with the Jumat service at the college's mosque on its main campus in Yaba, with principal officers in attendance, said that the awardees would be honoured for their outstanding contributions to the country's digital and economic landscape.
"These individuals embody leadership, innovation, and service that are capable of inspiring our students to pursue excellence in technology and entrepreneurship"
He gave the breakdown graduating students to include Two Thousand, Four hundred and thirty-four (2,434) students who finished with Upper Credit, Four Thousand, four hundred and three (4,403) who are graduating with Lower Credit and the remaining One Thousand, five hundred and twenty-six (1,526) students who will receive their diplomas with a Pass grade.
A church service is expected to hold on Sunday November 16, 2025, at the Yusuf Grillo Auditorium, beginning at 4:00 p.m. while Convocation Lecture is slated for Tuesday, November 18, 2025, to be delivered by Senator Opeyemi Bamidele titled ""Entrepreneurship Development in the Digital Age: Leveraging Technology for Job Creation and Economic Growth," under the chairmanship of Professor Taiwo Oyedele, Chairman of the Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms.
The Rector accompanied by other principal officers of the institution, added that the lecture was part of the college's contribution to the national growth to strengthen the Renewed Hope Initiative of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's administration in the country
"The ideas generated from this lecture will represent Yaba College of Technology's (YABATECH) contributions to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's agenda for economic diversification and digital transformation. It is evident that the President's policies are steering the nation toward renewal and prosperity"
"Following the Convocation Lecture, the College will host Alumni Homecoming Dinner to rub minds together and share the joy of the moment. The Homecoming Dinner will offer opportunities for networking and mentorship"
"The Convocation will culminate on Thursday, November 20, 2025, with the award of degrees, diplomas, certificates, prizes, and fellowships to deserving graduates and honorees at the Dr. Phillip Adegbile Sports Pavilion, starting at 10:00 a.m. The Special Guest of Honour will be Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa CON, the Honourable Minister of Education", he further disclosed
Dr. Adul described the graduating class as students who have shown exceptional diligence and commitment, ready to demonstrate their professional and entrepreneur skills in ensuring the growth of the society
