Ogun State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to the development of agriculture, aimed at boosting agribusiness, enhancing growth, and ensuring sustainability in line with the ISEYA mantra.
The State Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security, Hon. Bolu Owotomo gave the reassurance in Abeokuta while flagging off an empowerment programme for agro-based Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) organized by Wokaman Global Resources and Providus Bank in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, to further tackle food shortage across the State.
Hon. Owotomo who commended the organizers for the initiative,assured that the programme would elevate the agricultural sector to greater heights
He urged beneficiaries to make judicious use of the opportunity through effective management and diligence to improve productivity and means of livelihoods as farmers.
"Take full advantage of this programme to make yourselves better. There is no better time to be a farmer than now,” he stated
In his remarks, the Branch Head of Providus Bank, Abeokuta, Mr. Samuel Imianlian, lauded the State Government for its strides in the agricultural sector, explaining that the bank’s support aims to strengthen and enhance farming activities and agribusiness operations across the State.
Mr. Imianlian further noted that the intervention was targeted at farmers with the goal of expanding their businesses and improve their living standards.
Also speaking, the Chairman of Ajegunle Farm Settlement and Spokesperson of the All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN), Ogun State Chapter, Mr. Rotimi Sogunle, expressed appreciation to the State Government for its continued support and commitment toward achieving food security.
Speaking on behalf of the participants, Mrs. Olanike Edun thanked the State Government and the organizers for their support and pledged to put into practice the knowledge and skills acquired during the programme.
Participants at the event comprising of farmers across the state would be given free Point of Sales (POS) terminals and access to loan to boost their businesses.
