It was a moment of joy and celebration at the Ogun State Universal Basic Education Board (Ogun SUBEB) headquarters as two global companies JFE Shoji Corporation and Kawasho Foods Corporation officially handed over educational materials and 200 cartons of Geisha products to the Board for distribution to schools across Ogun State.
The gesture aims to support learners and enhance teaching and learning in public primary schools.
Delivering his address, the Executive Chairman, Ogun State Universal Basic Education Board (Ogun SUBEB) Evangelist Ifede Olalekan, commended the donors for their consistent demonstration of corporate social responsibility.
He described the donation as a “tangible investment in the future of our learners, who are the leaders of tomorrow,” noting that this marks the eighth consecutive intervention by JFE Shoji Corporation and Kawasho Foods Corporation in Ogun State’s education sector.
According to Evangelist Ifede, the companies donated 500 chairs, 250 desks, 13,500 branded 60-leaf exercise books, and 200 cartons of Geisha food products.
He emphasized that these items will go a long way in creating a more conducive learning environment and improving the comfort of learners and teachers across selected schools in the state.
In his welcome address, the Board Secretary, Mr. Olubori Akinleye, expressed appreciation to the donors for their continuous support, describing the donation as a reflection of their commitment to educational development.
“The government alone cannot shoulder the responsibility of education,” and added that contributions from private partners like JFE Shoji and Kawasho Foods are highly commendable", he noted
Mr. Akinleye also affirmed that the intervention would help learners to learn better and stay healthy.
Speaking on behalf of the two companies, the Managing Director of Kawasho Foods Corporation, Mr. Akira Yano, thanked consumers in Ogun State and Nigeria for their patronage of Geisha products.
He shared that the Geisha brand, which has been in existence for over 114 years globally and more than 70 years in Nigeria, remains committed to delivering quality food products.
Mr. Yano explained that their continuous support for education stems from their belief that education directly contributes to economic growth and sustainable development.
In his vote of thanks, the Director of Administration and Supplies, Mr. Femi Fatade, lauded JFE Shoji Corporation and Kawasho Foods Corporation for their generosity.
He stated that the materials would make teaching and learning more effective and comfortable in the ten beneficiary schools, assuring that Ogun SUBEB would ensure transparent and judicious distribution.
Learners from Local Government Primary School, Ibiade (Ogun Waterside); Master Ige Waliat, AUD Primary School, Ago-Iwoye; Miss. Alimi Soliat and All Saints’ Anglican Primary School, Itori (Ewekoro) Miss. Abobade Goodness, expressed their heartfelt appreciation to the donors.
They pledged to make good use of the educational materials and Geisha products to support their studies and overall wellbeing.
