President/Vice Chancellor of Babcock University , Prof. Ademola Tayo has charged fresh students to always comply strictly with the provisions of oath administered by the university , by upholding academic integrity and responsibility amidst the disturbing declining values and increasing corruption in the country
The Vice-Chancellor was speaking during the Babcock University's 27th undergraduate and 16th postgraduate matriculation held at the Amphitheatre on the main campus of the institution in Ilishan-Remo, Ogun State.
“Today marks the beginning of an exciting journey for each of you matriculating students, one that promises growth, discovery and transformation,” he said.
“Remember, as you begin this phase in your academic journey that success is never accidental. It requires disciple, diligence and reliance on God. First Class begins with the first class in your 100 level.”
More than that, he reminded the students that for more than two decades, Babcock University has remained a torch bearer in private tertiary education in Nigeria and raised servant leaders who have continued to make positive global impact in different spheres from entrepreneurship to leadership.
“Our mission has remained steadfast, to extend the frontiers of knowledge, nurture responsible leadership and contribute to national progress. BU has continued to offer an alternative, an education grounded in excellence, integrity and the fear of God, " he stated
He said in spite of the diversity of its student population drawn from over 20 nations, there is a shared commitment to excellence, community and service.
“We teach our students to think deeply and apply knowledge to real-life challenges. When your graduation day arrives, you will walk out of this university not only to compete in a dynamic world, but also to lead it.
He counseled the students to shun anything that would be diminish or distract them from the values and wholistic learning environment the University has created which balances intellectual knowledge with moral values.
“Excellence thrives in an environment where students feel safe, supported and inspired. With God at the centre, your journey will not end in failure. Uphold the values you find here. Stand tall, work hard, trust God and let excellence define everything you do. Become the best version of yourself.
“I am confident that many of you will rise up as innovators, problem solvers and leaders of a better tomorrow.”
He also urged the postgraduate cohorts to be solution providers in the research they engage in so that the world would be a better place as a result of the findings of their research work.
He counseled them to avoid any form of academic dishonesty and to remember Babcock’s zero tolerance for cultism, bullying, hooliganism, corruption and exam malpractice.
“Welcome to BU. This is where your future begins," he stated
The Senior Vice President Academics, Prof. Philemon Amanze, also lent his support in congratulating all the matriculating students
