Chrisland University in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital has produced 252 graduands across our various faculties and programmes including 44 First Class graduates for the 2024/2025 academic session, as the university received
formal approval from the National Universities Commission (NUC) to commence postgraduate programmes.
Vice-Chancellor of the university, Prof. Oyedunni Sola Arulogun who revealed this on Wednesday during the 7th Convocation of the institution, also said
133 finished with Second Class Upper Division, 107 got Second Class Lower while the remaining 12 bagged Third Class Honours.
Chrisland according to her, produced its pioneer set of Doctor of Physiotherapy, the first in Nigeria and West Africa, Nursing Science, Medical Laboratory Science
The Vice Chancellor said that the Board of the Postgraduate School had been reconstituted, with the Deputy Vice-Chancellor serving as Chairman, preparatory for the take off of the academic programmes
She noted that NUC also granted accreditation to 10 departments including Department of Accounting, Business Administration, Criminology and Security Studies, Economics, English, Mass Communication, Political Science, Psychology, Computer Science and Department of Microbiology) after a successful conduct of Resource verification exercise held between February 9th and 15th, 2025
Prof. Arulogun stressed the need for expansion of physical infrastructure on campus to accommodate growing students population which is currently put at 1,700
The Vice-Chancellor who acknowledged giant stride recorded in terms of provision of new classrooms, laboratories, and staff offices, called for support from public spirited individuals to compliment the efforts of the visionary leadership of the Chancellor, High Chief(Mrs) Winifred Awosika
"There remains an urgent need for more hostels, lecture spaces, and recreational facilities to sustain a wholesome academic experience"
"We therefore call on our friends, partners, alumni, and benefactors — those who believe in the Chrisland dream to join hands with us in building the next phase of our physical and academic development. Every gift, every project, every gesture of goodwill contributes to the legacy of knowledge we are nurturing here", she appealed
Also speaking, the Chairman Governing Council and Pro-Chancellor of the university, Professor Ayodeji Olukoju in his speech titled 'Little Things Matter', admonished the graduating students to start small but think big by embracing humble beginnings with ambitious vision, describing the campus of institution as very conducive and drug-free.
Similarly , the Founder and Chancellor of Chrisland University, Abeokuta, Dr Winifred Awosika recalled with nostalgia how the journey of Chrisland Schools started forty years ago, saying the establishment of the university ten years ago, represents the culmination of a lifelong mission to build a continuous bridge of learning from the cradle to the University level, where every learner can find the wings to soar.
Guest lecturer, Amofin Beulah Adeoye in his convocation lecture titled "Breaking New Frontiers: Knowledge, Innovation and Impact", charged the graduating class of 2025 to be courageous to break new frontier by being novative in finding solutions to the needs of the society
High point of the convocation ceremony was awarding of degrees to the graduands and presentation of prizes to the exceptional graduates including Popoola Israel from the Department of Criminology and Security Studies, a first male student to have emerged as overall best graduand in the academic history of Chrisland University
Dignitaries included the Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Right Honourable Oludaisi Elemide , Olowu of Owu-Kingdom Oba(Prof.) Saka Adelola Matemilola, Alake of Egbaland , Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo who was represented by one of his chiefs, representatives of some of universities including the Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye, Lead University Ibadan, Crescent University Abeokuta, Convenant University Ota, Bowen University Iwo, Crawford University Igbesa, MacPherson University, Mountain Top University amongst others
