Ogun State Government has charged teachers and administrators in public schools across the State to always make discipline and punctuality their watch words, so as to ensure efficient service delivery for the new 2025/2026 Academic session begining from this Monday, September 15
The State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu gave the charge at day two of 3-day pre-resumption stakeholders' meeting at Lisabi Grammar School, Idi-Aba, Abeokuta, saying teachers should exhibit habits which learners could benefit from.
Prof. Arigbabu revealed that the government would be engaging teachers in series of trainings and capacity building programmes which would improve their teaching skills and services delivery.
He also appreciated associations of private school owners for their usual support and adherence to government policies and procedures, while seeking more cooperation to ensure ‘out-of-school children’ challenge become a thing of the past in the State.
"I am happy that teachers now understand better how to discipline learners in school not with the usual way they’ve been doing it in the past, you should rather be a role model with displaying habits they can emulate," Arigbabu advised.
Speaking earlier, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Mrs. Oluwatosin Oloko emphasised the need for stakeholders to ensure every bit of the discussion are passed to others for strict adherence in various schools.
On their part, Chairman, NUT Ogun State, Comrade Noah Sewakanu represented by the Union Secretary, Comrade Samson Oyelere and Chairman, Academic Staff Union of Secondary School, Comrade Felix Agbesanwa, commended the Commissioner for initiating such valuable platform for stakeholders to come together and discuss critical issues which would take the educational sector of the State to an enviable height.
In their separate remarks, President General, Grand Union of Proprietors Association, Alh. Jabar Adebola and President, National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools, Ogun State Chapter, Otunba Joshua Osibeluwo applauded the present administration for its developmental and transformative policies as well as initiatives that had elevated the standard of education, ensuring that every child, regardless of background have access to quality education.
