Medical Experts including Chief Nursing Officer at the Ogun State Hospital, Ijaye, Abeokuta, Alhaja Rukayat Idowu Popoola and Director of the State Health Insurance Agency, Dr. Sarat Adebayo have offered practical tips to Muslim women on how to raise morally upright children and ensure healthy lifestyle for them to play their key roles in the society
The duo were guest speakers on Saturday during the grand-finale of the 30th anniversary of Al-Mu'minaat in Nigeria, organized by Egba-Yewa Zone of the Believing Muslim Women Organization held in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital
Alhaja Rukayat in her lecture titled "Between Parental Love And Over-Pampering of Children- Balancing The Equations, stressed the need for mothers to always create quality time for their children to build trust and confident in them to confront challenges in the society and live a righteous life
She decried the disturbing rate of immorality among children in the society, urging mothers to be more alive to their responsibilities at homes, describing family as bedrock of the society
The Chief Nursing Officer emphasized the importance of Islamic teachings and western education in the upbringing of every child while calling on mothers to always ensure they provide all the necessities for their children to prevent them from being exposed to undesirable elements capable of destroying destroying their bright future
She however cautioned mothers against over-pampering their children by showing too much affection for a particular child at the expense of others, to avoid unhealthy rivalry or enimity among siblings
Delivering the second lecture titled "Safeguarding Our Overall Health and Wellness In a Challenging Economy", Dr. Sarat stressed the need for mothers to always prioritize their health to enable them play vital roles in their respective homes
She urged mothers to always adopt preventive measures, by immunizing their children against childhood diseases, keeping environment clean, going for frequent medical checkup, ensuring personal hygiene through regular hands washing and eating with moderation
She enjoined mothers to encourage their family members to key into the Ogun State Health Insurance scheme, so as to reduce the cost of medical expenses
Dr Sarat recommended regular exercise, reading of Holy Quran and other religious activities as some of effective means of managing stress and mental health
Earlier, Amirah of the Egba-Yewa Zone of Al-Mu'minaat, Hajia Sekinat Abdur-Raheem Yusuf welcome guests and members at the event, described the theme of this year's Women's Day "From Seeds to Strength: The Founding Vision of Al-Mu’minaāt and Its Spiritual Legacy,” as a reminder of the sacred trust Muslim women must carry in both micro and macro environments
Hajia Sekinat urged members to use the moment of the 30th anniversary of the foremost Muslim women organization to renew their commitment to the purpose of Al-Mu'minaat, particularly their roles as mothers in raising children with fear of Allah
"Let this celebration renew our purpose.* Let our joy today remind us of our responsibility to speak out, to donate, to educate, to raise our children to care for their ummah, and to stand for justice. As Allah says in Surah Al-Balad (90:10), *“And have We not shown him the two paths?”* — the path of good and evil, the path of ease and struggle. We must always choose the path of service and sacrifice", she admonished
The Amirah recalled how Al-Mu'minaat founded thirty years ago , was to able to protect the identity of Muslim women, by upholding Islamic principles and values through establishment of branches across Nigeria
She equally urged the celebration to remember women and children in Gaza, Palestine who are suffering from what she described as oppression and injustice of Israeli forces and America with their allies
"Their suffering reminds us of the global struggle of the Muslim ummah, and the need for unity, compassion, and action. We cannot be truly strong if we forget those in pain", she stated
Some of the dignitaries at the event included the wife of Olu of imasayi, Olori Rashidat Kuoye as the Royal mother of the day and Alhaja Rafiat Olaleye, the principal Alaye High School Senior ,Ayetoro in Yewa North Local Government Area of Ogun State amongst others
High point of the event included raising of fund for the Al-Mu'minaat's N1.5 billion Secretariat
