Ogun State Government says arrangements are being concluded for the disbursement of N500 million Naira loan to Artisans and small scale business owners across the 20 Local Government Areas of the State.
The State Commissioner for Community Development and Cooperatives, Hon. Ademola Balogun made this known when he appeared before the members of State House of Assembly Committee on Community Development and Cooperatives at the ongoing 2025 Mid-Year Budget Performance Appraisal at the Assembly Complex, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.
Hon. Balogun, who appreciated Prince Dapo Abiodun led-administration’s efforts in empowering residents to improve their socio-economic wellbeing and enhance self-sufficiency, assured that the process of the disbursement of the loan would be transparent as it would capture all categories of beneficiaries including artisans and small scale business owners.
He explained that the loan, aimed to further support and empower citizens at the grassroots level, is a business revolving loan with low interest and is expected to be paid back as at when due to enable everyone benefit from it, noting that paying registration is ongoing in the Ministry.
Hon. Balogun also revealed that plans to upgrade the infrastructure of the Social Development Institute for more effective training and engagements are underway.
In his remarks, the House Committee Chairman on Community Development and Cooperatives, Hon. Dickson Awolaja called for increased funding to strengthen grassroots economy and investments as well as cooperative initiatives.
