Ogun Farmers Hail Govt's Agricultural Programmes, Pledge Support To Boost Food Production

Farmers in the eight farm settlements across Ogun State have expressed deep appreciation to Governor Dapo Abiodun for implementing a series of agricultural schemes and programmes, aimed at boosting productivity as well as improving livelihoods of people.

 President of the Farm Settlers Association of Ogun State, Mr. Ogunlana Johnson and the Secretary, Mr. Lasilo Akanji in a statement,  lauded the Governor’s commitment to enhancing agricultural activities through people-oriented initiatives.

They commended the distribution of free fertilisers in collaboration with the Federal Government, along with various agricultural inputs that have reached farmers in different parts of the State, adding that the procurement of new tractors and other mechanized equipment would greatly support large-scale farming in the State.

“We cannot but register our heartfelt appreciation to our outstanding and farmer-friendly Governor for facilitating impactful projects like the World Bank-assisted, Ogun State Economic Transformation Project (OGSTEP) in all farm settlements and estates,” the statement read.

According to the association, the positive impact of these programmes had been unprecedented in the State’s agricultural history, creating new opportunities for farmers and enhancing food production capacity, stressing that farmers in the State “have never had it so good.”

The farmers pledged their continued loyalty and support for the Dapo Abiodun led administration, noting that sustained collaboration between the government and farmers would ensure food security and economic growth in Ogun State.

The statement also extended appreciation to the Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security, Hon. Bolu Owotomo and his team, for initiating and implementing policies that have significantly improved farmers’ welfare and productivity.

The association concluded by urging the government to sustain the momentum and expand the reach of these initiatives by ensuring that more farmers benefit from the State’s Agricultural Transformation Agenda.
