Nine teams will be competing for honour when the much awaited annual third edition of Abeokuta All Stars Veterans' Football League kicks- off this Saturday,30th of August,2025,at the ultramodern Mainbowl of MKO Abiola Sports Arena in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital
A Press Release from the Media office of the tournament, listed the nine All Stars teams to include ;All Stars Football Club Abeokuta(the defending Champions), Ebenezer All Stars, Mapoly All Stars, Africa All Stars,Bankers All Stars,Victorroti All Stars, Amolasho All Stars and Carwash Bombers All Stars and new Entrants;Lisabi All Stars
According to the fixtures released by the technical committee,for match-day one;the opening match will see Mapoly All Stars FC taking on Lisabi All Stars FC at 9am, Carwash Bombers All Stars FC lock horns with Abeokuta All Stars FC at 11am while at 1pm, Amolasho All Stars FC will be trading tackles with Ebenezer All Stars
All matches are going to be played on Saturdays according to the organizers
Football fans are urged to come and catch the glimpses of many of the most exciting names that once lit up pitches and legendary Stadiums accross the nation and to cheer the never-say-die Veterans still horning their skills
The Coordinator of the tournament who is also the President of All Stars Football Club, Abeokuta, Alhaji Lawal Adeoye Waheed explained the rationale behind the formation of this League, saying it is to foster the spirit of unity and togetherness among all All Stars Football Club in Abeokuta in particular and Egbaland in general.
He urged all participating teams and their fans to exhibit the spirit of sponstsmanship throughout the duration of the games
The Chairman of the Local Organizing Committee(LOC),Hon. Idowu Olowofuja assured participating teams and fans of
adequate security and top-notch medical facilities which according to him, has been the tradition of the competition right from its inception in 2023
It would be recalled that a total of six teams took part in the first edition while all matches were played at the now-defunct training pitch of the MKO Abiola Stadium
The Hosts, All Stars FC Abeokuta who won the inaugural edition will be defending their title against other teams in the competition
