The keenly contested final, saw the Nigerian women displaying resilience and composure to claim their seventh AfroBasket title
"You are true inspirations and pride to girls and women in general. Thank you for keeping the Nigerian flag flying,” the wife of President Bola Tinubu said in a statement late Sunday"
With the historic win, the reigning African women’s basketball champions extended their unbeaten record to 29th consecutive game without a single loss since 2015.
As with most of their early games in the tournament, Nigeria got off to a slow start before ending the halftime with the scores level at 41–41.
The Rena Wakama’s side regained control of the game in both the third and fourth quarters and ended the game at 78-64 to reclaim their fifth consecutive time and seventh title in the history of the competition
It will be recalled that D' Tigress won their first title in 2003 and later in 2005 defended it on home soil in Abuja before regaining dominance with victories in 2017, 2019, 2021,2023 and 2025
